Developed by the atomic energy commission to filter radio active particles as small as 0.3 microns. True HEPA 80 sq ft: Warm rolled to prevent cracking, 10 pleats per square inch maximizes filtration (other systems only use 6-8 folds). Spacers to make sure every fold filters. Traps particulate up to .3 microns. All models with HEPA filters except the I600 come standard with a new metal capped HEPA filter, which removes the possibility of any plastic vapors from non-metal caps. The closed end on the HEPA cylinder completely seal the particle filtration process, eliminating the possibility of by-pass by particle-bearing air. The I600 HEPA can be upgraded to the metal cap. Replace HEPA filters roughly every 5 years.
